Description

William Maple, 1661/71?–1762, chemist, was one of the founding members of the Dublin Society. The subject modelled wearing a coat, classical robes and a chaperon, his head turned slightly towards the left, signed and dated P Cunningham AD 1763, and the socle inscribed William Maple.
