Transcription:
"My Dear Sir,
The bronze disc seems perfectly genuine in its style, but I do not know any such object and should be glad if I might someday examine it. I might possibly read the read the inscription. It seems from the style to be about XXV-XXVI dyn. The most likely connection for it would be the style of work at Marathus in Syria; if it be a coin at all it my be early Phoenician. But it looks pure Egyptian.
It is a pity so little is known as to the meanings of scarabs. Nothing can be said about those you ask about, beyond what is obvious to you.
The exhibition will be open July 2 to 25. The main interest is the clearing up of them 1st Aug.
Yours very truly,
Wlm. Flinders Petrie."
