Description
Portrait of Charles Uniacke Townshend (1828-1907), land agent, Vice-President of the Royal Dublin Society (1893-1907), Honorary Secretary of the Royal Dublin Society (1887-93). The subject depicted three-quarter length, in three-quarter left profile, gazing front; seated in a carver armchair, his right arm resting on the drop-leaf of a writing bureau, his left hand resting on his left knee; wearing a slightly forked full beard, dark coat and white waistcoat; set against a non-descript, dark-coloured background; unsigned.
