Portrait of Professor Felix Edward Hackett, M.A., Ph.D. (1882–1970), Irish physicist and lecturer, Dean of the Royal College of Science, Professor of Physics and Electrical Engineering, UCD, President of the Royal Dublin Society (1953-56), Vice-President of the Royal Dublin Society (1956-70), Honorary Secretary of the Royal Dublin Society (1933-53). The subject depicted bust length, directed and gazing front; moustachioed and wearing a grey three-piece suit, a white shirt and a dark-coloured tie; set against a non-descript, dark-coloured background; signed lower left Leo Whelan.
