Description
A gold trophy cup, the part-ovoid body supported on a trumpet-shaped base with four hoof feet, engraved with foliage and scrolls and applied with shamrocks, the stem applied with six grotesque mask buttresses, the detachable cover with a cow form finial, engraved with the inscription PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP FOR BEST DAIRY SHORTHORN PRESENTED BY MESSRS SILCOCK & SONS LTD. 1926 and a further inscription verso ROYAL DUBLIN SOCIETY ANNUAL SPRING SHOW FOR BEST DAIRY SHORTHORN., and further engraved with various names and dates, with a copper-mounted ebonised wood base, all contained in a fitted mahogany finished case.
