Description

Handwritten letter from Thomas Preston to George F. Fitzgerald, written on 24 November 1898, on paper from his home in Bardowie, Orwell Park, Rathgar, County Dublin. He writes that he has successfully replaced the quartz lens with a glass lens, resolving the previous problems in an experiment. He spent 3 days of hard work resolving this problem. He considers options for replacing the high ultraviolet now that the quartz is gone and speculates that he may need to replace the lens with a mirror or metallic. 2pp.
