Description

Handwritten letter from Thomas Preston to George F. Fitzgerald, written from Tilbrush, Smith’s Hotel, and dated 24 April 1896. Preston addresses his “objections” about a scientific theory he had discussed. He discusses the effects of “compression” on spheres and the velocity of waves and states that the “’infinity’ difficulty of compression” never occurs in nature and expands his ideas about spectrum analysis. He considers the ideas important and hopes to meet Fitzgerald soon and discuss them. 4pp.
