Description

Dr Mary Ann Hutton (1862-1953) was a Gaelic scholar and the first woman elected to the Royal Dublin Society Council in 1929. The subject depicted bust length, in three-quarter profile, directed right, her fair hair in a hair bun, wearing a white chemise under a fitted, light brown jacket with shawl lapel. Signed and dated l.r. M R Rothwell 1889.
