Handwritten letter from P. L. Gray, 15, Francis Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, to George F. Fitzgerald, dates 3 November 1895. Gray discusses the nature of Radiation while expressing his hope to contribute more to the discoveries of Radiation and Absorption. 2pp.

"Dear Professor Fitzgerald,
Thank you for the return of Paschen's letter, which touches on several interesting points. I have felt for some time that the [general?] question of Radiation & Absorption of different surfaces required a fresh start experimentally I hope to be doing something at it myself in the next few years. I am inclined to think highly of the importance of what Paschen prints out - that the variations in the law of Radiation, obtained by experiments, are due to the difference in the absorbing power of the various "receiving-surfaces" which have been used. I have not yet seen Sylvanus Thompson's lectures on Ave Lamps; I will look them up immediately.
