Dear Fitzgerald
I write to ask whether it would be with any possibility if success if the authorities of the University of Wales were to ask you to become their External Examiner in Physics for Degrees.
I do this with the cognisance of the Vice Chancellor (Principal of J.V James) and need hardly say that at each examiners' meeting attended, and another fixed sum for each practical examination held. Practical examinations which the Sch. Examiner is expected to attend and supervise and to be held at the three colleges in succession.
I can give you full information later, in the meantime perhaps you will let me have a line would give us and all connected with the University much pleasure if you could see your way to act. I cannot state in detail what the emoluments of the office are but they consist of a freed sum (£5 I think) for each paper set with 1/6 for each 'script' looked over, a foxed sum inclusive of expenses for
addressed to me at Bangor to say whether you will think of taking the appointment,
Believe me,
Very truly yours,
A. Gray
Prof. G.F Fitzgerald
P.S The examinations will take place sometime in the last two weeks of June, but the time table is not yet settled.
