Description

Handwritten letter to William Francis from John Tyndall. In the letter, the men are collecting and sending testimonials, as well as making editorial decisions. Tyndall has sent him parcels of writings, copies of testimonials and translations. Some significant scientists of the time are mentioned including: Dr John Percy, E. Sabine, H. G. Magnus, R. Bunsen, J.C Poggendorf and a ‘DuBois’. Tyndall mentions being in correspondence with Sir Robert Kane and requests 100 copies of testimonials be sent to him, in order to send to Faraday “and others.” There is also some commentary on the challenges of the contemporary postal system.
