Description
Handwritten letter from Sir Oliver Lodge, 2 Grove Park, Liverpool, to George F. Fitzgerald, dated 9 October 1893. Lodge encourages Fitzgerald to be an external examiner at the Victoria University of Manchester, and he notes that he has some nasal polyps. 2pp.

"M d Φ
Will you please indicate you're willingness to the Victoria University to be External Examiner in Physics provided an [adequate?] arrangement be made about travel expenses. I'm anxious to get you, and they do allow [?] for travelling and money for distant ones. I see no reason why they shouldn't pay you the whole if you can. They have plenty of cash. Write then at once. The [r?] vector is manifesting.

Oddly enough I have been having small nasal polyps removed, same as Hertz. Word is it's ozone. Modestly painful [b?] but not incapacitating. Lecture last week and another today. Not enough to need ether.
