Description
In May 1834 the RDS held its first public exhibition in the statue gallery and model rooms of its Drawing Schools at Leinster House. The Exhibition of Irish Manufactures established the tradition of RDS support and promotion of Irish art, manufacturing and craft through public exhibitions. These have included the Great Exhibition of 1853, the Art Industry Exhibitions of the late 19th century, the National Craft Exhibitions (1968-2017) and more recently the RDS Visual Art Awards Exhibition.
The RDS Exhibitions collection currently includes the digitised catalogues of fine art, manufactures and craft exhibitions organised by the RDS for the years 1843-2000.
