Dear Prof. Fitzgerald.
I am sincerely obliged to you for the expression of your views on the subject of my [?], and they will carry great weight with me.
The proprieters of "The Electrician" are mostly connected with the Eastern Telegraph Co. Now the policy of the managers of that company is to make everyone absolutely dependent on it and as a consequence of the [?] and quiet attendant on this regime as applied to a cable com-pany, the same policy has been steadily persued in regard to a totally different concern, namely "The Electrician" Printing and Publishing Co. Whilst not a quixolic combadaut creature I am, thanks to my forbears and early training, naturally averse to fawning on anyone. Hence without any overt act of war on my part or their's, there was always a natural antipathy between myself and the proprietors as there was between them & Mr Troller. Hence the mo-ment circumstances formed, they ejected me and put in my place a man who, whatever his merits may be and they are many, will be thanks to a wife and Family & a complete absence of financial resources wholly dependent on this good will of his employers. Now that may be good business management of but it does not tend to independence of advertisers & improper proprietnial pressure.
