Transcription:

'My dear Fitzgerald, Lord R. is a man of his word. Or perhaps you have left out his opinion of my audacity. Daring to look a gift horse in the mouth. Anyhow, it would not be [?] for me to ask more. Will you, therefore, be so good as to convey to Lord R. my most respectful declination of the offer? I know I have been the cause of a great waste of your valuable time, all about nothing too. I am very sorry. The time may come when I may be compelled to beg for assistance, of any kind. May it be far off! Yours sincerely, Oliver Heaviside'
