Title

[Letter to George F. Fitzgerald from Thomas Preston].

Identifier

GFF 11/5

Description

Handwritten letter from Thomas Preston to George F. Fitzgerald, dated 23 August [probably 1896, since its contents are referenced in GFF 11/6]. The paper’s masthead is from Preston’s home at Bardowie, Orwell Park, Rathgar, County Dublin. He thanks Fitzgerald for sending him the notes from his Helmholtz lecture [German physicist Hermann von Helmholtz] and approves of his topic. Preston writes that he has “read and inwardly indigested” his paper. He is interested in his theories. He hopes to meet Fitzgerald at the British Association for the Advancement of Science later that year. In a postscript, he writes that his baby boy has been at home for the past fortnight, and all is well. 2pp.
