Title

[Letter to George F. Fitzgerald from Thomas Preston],

Identifier

GFF 11/36

Description

Handwritten letter from Thomas Preston to George F. Fitzgerald, dated 22 November 1897. He writes that Zeeman’s theories are relevant to their discussions and cites a passage from last March’s issue of Philosophy magazine, about ion motion and the magnetic field. Being familiar with the paper, Preston did not understand the British Association’s “shouting” about the matter. He thinks that Zeeman left little further to be said but may have left something to be done. He makes a further note about Zeeman’s theories in spectrometry. 4pp.
