My Dear Fitzgerald,
I am delighted to learn that Joly's nomination was unanimous and I write to congratulate him
All's well that ends well. I expect my letter to the Provost amused you. If Joly would take the Engineering mains. If my hands I should feel to ask observed to him just at present I see in the agonies of proposing an "Lingual lecture". Which is a very serious affair. The Vice-Chancellor comes to criticise and bring the Proctors with him, so I don't find it a joke that isn't sensed in full commercials. This lecture is on the 19th week Tuesday, and on the 20th I have to before the Natural History Society, so it may disrupt
my other work my hands are very full.
I didn't go to Russia! There was so much to do here it would have been meaningless to attempt it. I am glad you had such a good excursion, but I wont call you a semj civilised Canadian! Though I do wonder why you didn't go on the Klondyke so here and get far.
Sincerely yours
W.J Sollas
