Transcription:
Dear Mr Fitzgerald,
I wrote you a fortnight ago on behalf of my assistant Mr Love who is applying for the chair at Sydney.
It may happen that he will not be in the running ad that the local Sydney assistant - Mr Pollock will have a good chance of the appointment.
His, Mr. Pollock's testimonials are not likely to do him justice but I know him well and can say that no mistake will be made if he gets the appointment.
I am starting for America on my way home in a couple of days.
Yours [?] sincerely
Thomas R. Lyle
