Description
Handwritten letter from Sir Oliver Lodge, Victoria University, Liverpool, to George F. Fitzgerald, dated 12 December 1894. Lodge invites Fitzgerald to stay at his home and asks about an experiment with a glass tube and dust. 1p.
Transcription:
"M d Φ
You will please come to us 2 Grove Park on Saturday if you can. We are looking forward to your visit. We shall be perfectly ready and can easily put you up. On Thursday we are having a house warming so to speak, but it will be all set straight.
When you stroke a glass tube to get dust figures, the dust inside the tube gives quite a different pattern to dust in another tube end on. [Diagram] Nodes much further apart, Why is this?
