Handwritten letter from Sir Oliver Lodge to George F. Fitzgerald, dated 1892. Lodge discusses scientific ideas regarding light, dust particles, reflexion and absorption. 1p.

Transcription:

Thanks for papers. They are cut off.
I interfolded a paper on Light repulsion at Cardiff giving [?] a bright dust particle [?] for which suns light repulsion would overbalance its gravitation attraction.
Reflexion is better than absorption. I did not know you had done it all in 1882. But the dust particle is much bigger than a molecule. I forgot the result, but the pressure is about 100 microdynes per square centimetre at Earth's distance. (on Langhry's estimate of nodiation rec).
Many thanks for papers. I wish you had sent me them all long ago. Have you no more now?
