From the introduction of some the world’s earliest jumping courses to its continuing support of riders and breeders the Dublin Horse Show has been instrumental in the development of show jumping on a national and international level.This exhibition, drawn from material in the RDS Library & Archives, explores the history of show jumping at Dublin, along with some of the notable competitors who have taken part in the Show over its long and illustrious history.

The exhibition highlights how some of the events at the Society and people associated with it, impacted on the author and featured directly and indirectly in his work. The exhibition draws on and promotes the diverse resources available to Members and researchers available from RDS Library & Archives.

This digital exhibition provides a visual record of 19thcentury horse and cattle breeds, through a series of images of prize winners from the RDS Spring, Horse and Winter Shows of 1899 and 1900. The exhibition images are taken from a set of two albums of platinum plate photographs commissioned by the RDS in 1899 and 1900. The albums were digitised in 2018 by Davison & Associates, as part of the RDS Library & Archives digitisation project.
