Pastoral landscape at sunset. Positioned centre, a shepherd girl carrying a faggot in her proper left hand converses with a herdsman wearing a wide-brimmed hat and carrying a staff in his proper left hand while driving cattle and sheep on a hillock surmounted by two trees; to right at middle distance, a landscape with more trees and sheep; to left at far distance, a low-lying, bucolic landscape; the entire scene set against a vast, clear-blue sky tinged with pink-orange tones on the horizon; signed and dated lower right Edmond Tschaggeny p. 1854.
