The first National Horse Show, jointly organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of Ireland and the RDS, was held in 1864 in the RDS Agricultural Hall, at Leinster House. In 1868 the RDS assumed sole responsibility for the management of the Horse Show, and in 1881 held its first Show at Ballsbridge. Today over 1500 horses take part in the Dublin Horse Show continuing its reputation as one of the world’s leading equestrian events.
